HEMAV and Semillas Fitó JOIN to REVOLUTIONISE the agricultural sector

Hemav, the largest drone company in Spain and the multinational Semillas Fitó have come to an international collaboration agreement for joint marketing of precision agriculture services.

With this alliance, Hemav and Semillas Fitó will join forces to offer a high value-added drone services in the agricultural service.

Hemav i Semillas Fitó

Hemav is the largest drone company in the Spanish market specialised in the digital transformation of massive airborne data into useful information (reports and/or recommendations) of high value for different sectors. (Agriculture, Energy, Construction, Mapping, Mining and others). This successful start-up founded in 2012 in Barcelona, is today an international company with more than 100 workers spread over the areas where it offers its services. HEMAV’s headquarters are located in the European Space Agency in Barcelona and Madrid, with international presence in more than 5 countries and national presence in more than 25 Spanish provinces.

Semillas Fitó is a Spanish multinational company, founded in 1880 in Sant Martí de Provençals, Barcelona. In the course of these 130 years it has evolved from a small seed company to a leading multinational in the sector of genetic improvement, production and distribution of agricultural seeds.

From its very beginning, Semillas Fitó has opted for research, development and innovation (R&D+i) to improve its catalogue of varieties, using biotechnology as a tool to save time and increase the accuracy of  traditional varietal improvement, as well as becoming a new  channel to develop and patent useful technologies for the sector, always with the intent to produce healthy and accessible foods.

Incorporating HEMAV’s services in Fitó’s portfolio  has marked a breakthrough towards the success of the FAS (Fitó Agronomic Solutions) project, a service that offers Fitó’s clients comprehensive high-quality advice, to improve their profitability through the efficient use fertilisers and irrigation.

The collaboration agreement was concluded last week at Semillas Fitó offices in Barcelona, between Eduard Fitó, Corporate Affairs and Business Development Director of Fitó and Joan Fons, Director of Agriculture at Hemav.

HEMAV’s agricultural solutions are based on providing the farmer with enough useful information to make good decisions and also with a tool to apply this decisions on the field. For that, Hemav uses its digital platform LAYERS to transform, by means of advanced data processing techniques in the cloud,  massive airborne information collected by drones, light aircraft or satellite, together with field data, into accurate recommendations of high agronomic value for the farmers and their technicians.

Hemav delivers agronomic recommendations in the form of maps to help the farmer optimise the application of fertilisers, irrigation, localisation of areas with fungal problems, advice on pruning, among others. Through these recommendations, it is possible to identify the differences within the plots in order to apply the optimum treatment to achieve the desired quality.  It also helps the farmer improve the knowledge of the agricultural plot and reduce the use of water, fertiliser and plant products.

Hemav, as Fitó’s technological partner expert in remote sensing, will be present in the internal training with all Semillás Fitó’s partners that will take place next May to consolidate the FAS project. v

This collaboration is a big step for HEMAV in continuing with its expansion strategy and international consolidation initiated last November 2016 after achieving one of the biggest series of  funding for the sector in Europe.
